A figure sits low to the ground, rendered in blue-grey, with one arm reaching down and the body fading into the paper beneath it. The pose sits somewhere between rest and collapse, and the image refuses to provide the missing explanation. Despondency works by removing the setting until the body has to carry all the evidence itself. The colour fades hardest at the lower edge, as if the figure is being slowly absorbed by the page. He is not disappearing quickly. That would be too kind.
