Artist’s note:
A boy walks forward across a red field, holding a pale blue bucket at his side. The bucket turns the pose into a small errand, though the red sky behind him makes the errand feel slightly unreasonable. Hersoid often lets ordinary objects do the strange work: a bucket, a body, a colour field, and suddenly the whole thing feels like evidence. The shadow beneath the bucket is separate from the boy’s, which gives the object its own little authority. He has been sent for something. We are not told what.
