Two children in coats stand side by side between two severed mythological heads fixed on stakes. The composition has the formality of a portrait and the content of something nobody should have normalised this quickly. Baphomet works by placing the sacred, the violent, and the domestic into the same quiet field until they stop arguing. The children’s hats cover their eyes, which makes their smiles more difficult to trust. The heads look more awake than the living.
